Can I use NotebookLM with Excel files?

NotebookLM does not accept Excel (.xlsx or .xls) files as a direct upload. To get Excel data into NotebookLM, use one of these approaches:

  1. Export as CSV — In Excel, go to File → Save As → CSV. Upload the CSV file to NotebookLM as a text source.
  2. Copy and paste — Select the relevant cells, copy them, and paste into NotebookLM as a text source.
  3. Export as PDF — If formatting matters for context, export the sheet as a PDF and upload that.

Once the data is in NotebookLM, you can ask questions about it, request summaries, or cross-reference it with your other sources. NotebookLM reads the values but cannot run Excel formulas or calculations.
