Can NotebookLM make flash cards?

Yes. NotebookLM can generate flashcard-style content from your sources in two ways:

Notebook Guide: Click the Notebook Guide panel and select the Flashcards output. NotebookLM auto-generates question-and-answer pairs based on key concepts across your sources.

Chat prompts: Ask directly — "Create 20 flashcards from chapter 3," "Make flashcards for all key terms," or "Generate flashcards in the format: Q: [question] / A: [answer]."

One limitation: there is no direct export to Anki or Quizlet. Flashcards are generated as text inside NotebookLM. Copy the output and use a text importer in your preferred flashcard app to transfer them. For best results, use dense source material — textbook chapters and lecture notes produce better flashcards than sparse or vague documents.
